San Fransisco

My suitcase arrived on the 1st of August, after 6 days without any luggage it has finally arrived and the first thing i realise as i carry the monstrosity up stairs is that i have way way way over packed. I'll have to send some stuff home when we get to Torronto!
So enough about the suit case issue, on to the holiday which has in fact gone very well regardless of the little suit case hitch.
On the 28th we went to the Asian Art Museum and looked at some fabulous desplays of art through out the ages, we saw work from Japan, Persia, China just to name a few. After the Art Museum we caught the bus to the Japanese Tea Gardens where we walked around for a while oohing and aahing at the beautiful garden artwork. We had a traditional Japanese tea there, it was all very relaxing. Below are a couple of photographs that we took... yes, finally some photographs!

The next day after the Japanese Tea Garden we went on the Bay Cruise. It was an enjoyable and somewhat informative tour which told us a little bit of the history of San Francisco. There was an amusing aduo commentary by `Captain Nemo` who was very strongly American and had retired his days as a Submarine Captain. We sailed around the islands, under the Golden Gate Bridge and past Alcatraz. Unfortunately we couldn`t go onto Alcatraz because the tour for that was sold out until the next Tuesday. We went to Chinatown that night and it was just as bright and colourful as it is in the movies, then it was back to the hostel for our last night in San Fransisco.

Hello one and all, there will not be photographs in this posting, as 1. we have not yet taken any, and 2. Weggie's camera is playing up, but there will be photo's soon!
Well we caught the flight from Melbourne at 12:00 on Thursday 27th, Air New Zealand with a 2 hr stop over in Aukland before we transferred to a connecting flight to San Francisco.
11hrs and 50 min's later we got through customs only to discover that my suitcase (purple with flourescent pink strap) has (we hope) been left behind in Aukland.
So instead of spending the afternoon in bed recovering from the flight like we planned, (which i really needed considering i wasn't feeling the best after the flight), Weggie and I had to hoof it all over inner city San Fran looking for clothing stores, Walgreen, and other such places where necessities can be found.
All i can say is that we have left the first afternoon free in our schedule other wise we would have been put completely off from the very first day!
As it was, by the time i had all the things i needed for a couple of days without my luggage (fingers crossed that it will arrive today 28/07/2006), and we headed back to our hostel, it was about 10:00pm. So... over 24 hours without sleep... i was ready for bed!

For anyone that's wondering, this image has absolutely nothing to do with our trip, no, this is just a test image, its a Dragon I sculpted, and one of the few photographs that I had on my computer.
I had to learn how to put an image in the Blog considering I've never done anything like this before.
I could have taken it back down, but figured I might as well leave it up cause you know... I think it's pretty!
